A Desserts & DIY Christmas Party!

December 9, 2011

Thanks to Duncan Hines for sponsoring my writing. There’s no limit to the baking possibilities, so grab your favorite Duncan Hines mix and Comstock or Wilderness fruit fillings and Bake On! www.duncanhines.com
A Desserts & DIY Christmas Party is a great get together
to do with some of your girl friends!
Put out some simple yummy treats and do a crafty project together!
We had fun creating these glitter votives as hostess gifts…all with stuff we already had.
My Inspiration for this DIY was from this post over on Glitter Guide. Love them!

Glitter Votives Tutorial
Use any glass containers you have..I used these leftover from our wedding!
Wrap with double sided tape..pour/spread glitter on them!
Done. Wrap these babies up and eat a cupcake. ;)

I had NO TIME when it came to
desserts for this get together..
I had already been baking up a storm for cookie exchanges and cookie decorating parties..
So it was perfect that I could pull out a Duncan Hines Mix
and Duncan Hines Frosting from my pantry
and make up something yummy fast!
Mini Cupcakes bake up quick..and the ready to go frosting was made
extra special with a little green food coloring.
(I used the whipped frosting and piped it out of a ziploc bag with the bottom corner tip cut off)
I topped the cupcakes off with some fun toppers I made up!
Just to go with the Dessert & DIY theme..
One thing we need to remind ourselves during Christmas preparation..Keep Calm. ;)

We had little ones at our feet wanting to join in the fun..
So I put out crayons, glue sticks and paper for them to make their masterpieces.
And the mini cupcakes were a HIT with them.
And they appreciated the cuteness too…requesting photos with their cupcake. haha.

Sophia of course was a big helper..
being a little mommy. :)

The finished product!
A perfect hostess gift…or a grouping of them to decorate a table for a party!
I might make some more up to use at my cookie exchange party this week.

Text your friends to come over for chocolate and DIY’s.
Go..right now.. ;) Merry Christmas!
