DIY Pallet Letter Sign Tutorial

This was a random spur of the moment DIY project that came together super quick.
I already had everything on hand for this, but even if you don’t, it only takes a few things!
We had a pallet left in our backyard when we moved here last year and
I had these YUM letters from Michaels that I got for 70% off!
You can use any type of letters you want, I loved the metal and wood look of these.
The U had a mirror fall on it. (long story) so it doesn’t work..that’s why for now I don’t have them lit,
I thought it might look funny to only have the y and m on haha.

Ben had taken apart the pallet and I chose 4 boards that had the coloring I liked.
I removed the nails and gave it a rough sanding job.
Then the hubby stepped in while I held Asher and he used two other pieces of the pallet board to connect
in the back, Just putting a vertical piece and nailing in multiple spots to make it nice and solid.
The photos show the wood in different colors, but that’s just the light
and filters because I didn’t stain it at all. I’m planning on doing another sign like
this but using white linen chalkboard paint from Home Depot on it!

Once the board was together, I hammered in the nails to hang the letters on.
I like that I can remove these letters if I want to change it up one day.
If you have flat and light weight letters, you could just use some sort of adhesive.
I used the drill to put a hole in each top corner and knotted some rope I had from Home Depot.
I found that the easiest way to hang it up and I like the different textures; wood metal and rope!

Here’s where my YUM sign is currently hanging in our Kitchen!

I love the rustic look of the sign, and it came together so quickly!
I’m all about easy DIY projects that I can do while the kids play around me in the backyard.
If you ever make one and share it on Instagram, tag me!! @athomewithnatalie

Thank you for this post!!!! I was going through a decluttering process a couple of weeks ago, my husband and I wanted to clean the house and re decorate, we wanted to transform the bathroom into a spa to completely enjoy the light and all the beautiful features that the room has but we had such a chaos there! we had to take everything out to start to check what was worth to keep and what has to go away, it was hard at the very first start because some things had some emotional value, but at the end totally worth it, having your space clear, it feels like if you can be free, I love to have our new bathroom as it is now and I feel we are enjoying it much more, is hard to make some changes no matter how little they are, but is necessary and most of the time completely worth it!!! I’m thinking to do something like you did on this article on my library, the idea is really nice and ot seems to be easy so I’m going for it, so thank you for the advises!!
