NEW BOOK: Nanette’s Baguette! + a Mo Mail Giveaway!

November 4, 2016

This month we got another fun delivery at our door… More Mo Mail!
We love Elephant & Piggie in our house and author Mo Willems has
another adorable book out! Nanette’s Baguette.
It’s the story of how today is the day Nanette gets to get the baguette! Is she set? You Bet!
It’s funny and cute. We loved how he created this amazing
handcrafted-paper-modeled French village for the scenery of Nanette’s world!

Sienna loves to play in our play kitchen area so it was a fun treat to get a new apron and baking supplies!
We gathered up all the play food bread we have and Sienna pretended to have her own little bakery.
I think I need to make some more felt food… baguettes!!

My girls and I were amazed at the video sharing the process of creating this book!
We are dreaming up our own little paper village now!
How cool is this??

I love books that make my kids laugh and spark creativity in them!
I love books that have illustrations that draw them in
and stories that bubble over into how they play. Mo Willems books are always a hit
with my kids and we just keep adding more of them to our shelves!

What a sweet treat! My Sweet Bella always loves to be in the kitchen helping or also playing in her pretend kitchen. Her favorite recipe to make now is chocolate mousse, because who doesn’t love chocolate right?! She even did a how to video for our church’s talent show, will be posting about it soon. Excited and hopeful to win. Big hug!

I love the Mo Willems books! I loved reading them to kids when I taught Pre-K.
Although a little on the heavier side, this is my favorite recipe at the moment!
5 Ingredient Snickers bars – from The Minimalist Baker online.m
    Ingredients
    18-20 pitted dates (~1 cup)
1 cup raw walnuts (or sub cashews or almonds)
1/4 cup vegan caramel sauce, (subbing coconut milk for cream)
    1/4 cup roasted salted peanuts
8 ounces (1 cup) bittersweet chocolate, chopped (non-dairy)
    Instructions
Pulse dates in a food processor until only small bits remain.
Add walnuts and pulse until thoroughly mixed and a “dough” is formed.
Transfer dough to a small loaf pan lined with parchment paper or plastic wrap and press into a square about 1/4 inch thick. Once sliced, the dough should yield 8 small snickers bars – I only used half the space in my loaf pan to achieve the proper thickness.
Pop dough in the freezer to set for 5 minutes.
Remove from freezer and transfer to a cookie sheet. Carefully slice into 8 even rectangles.
Top with caramel sauce and add peanuts. Pop back in freezer for 15 minutes to harden.
Ten minutes into freezing, melt the chocolate in a shallow bowl. When set, remove bars from freezer and carefully dip each one into the chocolate and scrape off excess with a rubber spatula. Then using a spoon, drizzle a generous amount of chocolate on top of each bar and use your finger or a small pastry brush to coat the bars with chocolate. You will likely have leftover chocolate.
Place bars on a baking sheet lined with plastic wrap or parchment and place back in freezer to set for at least 10 minutes. Store in the freezer or fridge to keep fresh until serving.
