The Stay at Home Mom/Small Business Owner Balancing Act

May 2, 2011

This past week I closed my etsy shop for vacation… the first time since i opened it.
felt a little wierd….considering i was emailing orders
from the hospital in early stages of labor…..haha.
(i got a sweet review from that client! hehe.)

Being a working stay at home mom can be a challenge..
I know so many of you are in the same boat..
of wanting to be home with your family and also be able to contribute financially for your family…it’s tough finding the balance!

–Thank goodness for the days that my two girls nap at the same time..haha.
i’m still working out the kinks and getting used to having two cuties.. :)

–some days I just have to accept the fact that nothing is going to happen until they go to bed.
other days..i feel like I could conquer the world with a baby on my hip!
and things come surprisingly easy and I get a ton done!

–I am learning as I go and open to evolving as a blogger/small business owner!
it’s important to stay open minded so you can grow/not lose your mind. ;)

–lately i’m so aware that these moments with my girls are going so quickly..
and i’m going to cherish them! Sometimes you need to put work aside and be present to them. (TIP: when taking a break from work make a list of your to-do’s
(helps me not stress/think about what i need to do!)

–each day I feel like it gets easier…
i’m learning how to multi-task better…and tackle my to-do list easier!

–I Prioritize my to-do/want to do list.. some projects are a must, while others need to be put on the back burner until I have more time.

–I have an amazingly supportive husband.. Communicating with him is very important, I always keep him in the loop of what i’m trying to accomplish. He dreams big with me!

I love that I am able to stay at home and take care of my beautiful babies…
and also thankful for the minutes of the day/night where I can enjoy
being creative with my Etsy ShopPretty Paperie Printables.

Anyone else doing this
Stay at Home/Working Mama balancing act???
I’m feeling refreshed after our “vacation” this week…
enjoyed a nice break after a bit of a busy time of custom orders!
here are two of the party packages
that i created last week…
i love creating custom packages..
and i think these turned out pretty cute..

The prints look awesome Natalie! I’m busy without kids. I’m not sure what it’s going to be like once I have them!

We just brought home our second bundle of joy earlier this month. That was also the first time I had put my own shop in vacation mode and it was a strange feeling. I am still trying to find a routine for our newly expanded family and the reopening of my shop but I’m getting really good at typing with only one hand, while I hold a baby in the other arm and bribe my toddler for 5 minutes of peace! I wouldn’t trade it for the world though:)

Love your blog, Natalie! I’ve been working from home for a little over 11 years and my kids are 9 and 6. This is my first year without at least one of them here with me all day. The amazing part is – – the balancing doesn’t get any easier. It’s a constant juggling act, but SO worth it. :)

Hi Natalie,What you have here on this blog is so cute! Love it! I have been a work at home mom since 2001 – I was just pregnant then with my first, but I started working from home because there was just NO WAY I wanted to leave that baby when he came. It does take a lot of balancing and a lot of compromise. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. I love the fulfillment I get from building my business around my kids. Thanks for the cute printables!
