Our Beach Trip Gear

August 4, 2020

We’ve recently taken a couple beach trips and I wanted to share some of the gear I got beforehand that made it easier! We are just a few hours away from the coast and even though it’s always a little wild traveling with our crew, it’s always worth it!
Just to be safe, we had Lifeguards in training with us at the Beach! ;)
So many fun memories those weekends chasing our kids all over the sand and water!
This post has photos from the trip to Carolina Beach- It was great!

We went to Carolina Beach for Ben’s birthday weekend. (shown in these photos!) We stayed at an apartment there-it was a great set up. The other trip was to Mrytle Beach and we stayed at the Crown Reef Resort. I’ll be sharing more about that trip later this week- they hosted us and it was amazing! So happy with that experience with the family. Both locations were great even with the current situation we are in. We spent most of our time outside, socially distant from others. If we went inside Ben and I had masks on. Most of our meals we ate outside though. It felt very safe and everyone was respectful of each other. Businesses were very happy to be open and having customers. I know that some people are staying home still, but eventually we all will venture out, you just have to start when you are comfortable. We followed all of the state guidelines. I just feel like I need to put that out there before I go any further into the post!

OK! SO– We packed a few items that I’m excited to share about! I bought these items myself- most via Amazon or Target-after doing a bunch of research and chatting with my sister in law haha. She had just gotten back from their own family trip and I got great tips from her. Whether you have a beach vacation coming up or want to be ready for whenever you are able to take it… I hope this post is helpful!

OUR WAGON:
I got this off Amazon. It was one of Ben’s birthday presents too! Perfect wagon to load up with kids for the 4th of July, to the park – just loved how handy it could be!
I did a lot of research on beach wagons and knew I wanted to get one with big wheels otherwise we would just be dragging it through the sand!
This worked GREAT! We used all around town too.

OUR BEACH BLANKET:
I saw this on Amazon and wanted to give it a shot! The material is similar to what a hammock is made out of. The part I loved about it is that, unlike a regular beach towel, you could easily swipe the sand off of it. Sometimes Ben would even pop up a corner and allll the sand would slide off! Was a great place to also put our towels on.
Would highly recommend it!

OUR BEACH CHAIRS AND TOWELS:
Our Chairs and towels were from Target- loved the colors!
Basic Arm Chair Coral- Sun Squad (Held up great and were $17!)
Cabana Striped Beach Towel – Sun Squad (Loved the colors and just $6!)

OUR BEACH CANOPY:
Cool Cabana Beige Stripes – Size Large.
My sister in law raved about this and I have to say…it’s AMAZING!
SO easy to put up. How it works is you put the poles together in the middle and push in sand… pop it open like an umbrella one arm at a time and then the kids fill the pockets up at the bottom with sand! It gave great shade and was even easier to pull back down.
We ordered the large size and I’m so glad we did. Cool Cabana has a bunch of patterns and styles to choose from!
My only complaint would be that I wish it was a taddddd taller… but we could still stand in it without hitting our heads.

OUR BEACH BAG:
My sister in law told me about this bag and how she had her kids each have one to hold their beach toys! I ended up just getting one and it was Micah’s job to carry the toys. Worked great. Loved the size!

OUR FAN/MISTER:
I got ours at Target but the same brand is on Amazon for cheaper!
O2COOL Deluxe Misting Personal Fan
Asher was so into our fan/mister on our Beach Trip. He would go around misting his sunbathing sisters. His nickname was The Mister Man. Little brothers do come in handy! (Not shown though… the 2 year old brother kicking sand on the girls. Can’t win em all! Haha.)

This was the moment Hunter arrived at the beach, before he realized all the sand that was involved. haha. He hated us for bringing him to this sandy place. The first day he pretty much ate sandy popcorn under our canopy, giving us the stink eye, while the big kids played! He made it through and it was so fun seeing the kids enjoy the beach! By the second beach trip he was way happier about all of it. But I would say he still prefers the pool/dry land. with snacks. ;)

Suns out guns out.
Chase was so chill at the beach. Snapped this after a mid air swimmie diaper change. haha. Had to capture the rolls in all their beach baby goodness!!

Everyone told us we needed to try @brittsdonutscb at Carolina Beach and they were amazing! One morning we went straight from there to the beach first thing. Had some fun and then headed out around lunch. As wild as these adventures can be, I’m so grateful for every sticky fingered little one in this shot! And the hubby who made me jump in the middle and be in the photo!

Here’s a few more photos from our beach trip fun!
The ocean is so beautiful. I loved having this special time with my family.
(Also, I use Snapped to brighten my photos – try the drama button in the app!)

One of the trips was to celebrate Ben’s birthday! Couldn’t imagine wrangling kids on the beach with anybody else. ;)
So thankful for this guy!
