April 1, 2010

Featured Archive Post of the Day
Since we are super busy with family coming into town i thought i would share one of my favorite posts that some of my new readers might not have seen!
Plus Link up your Child’s Party!! Proof that you are a Super-Mama. :)
I hope you get ideas from me and the other mama’s who post their parties so we can budget our time and plan our next party or event without even trying!! hehe.
I always like to be fabulous with as little effort as possible. haha.

Sophia’s 1st Birthday Party
………………………………………………………………………………………………….
Besides almost breaking down in tears thinking sophia was turning one…
i was like ah! yay! party time!
I love any excuse to throw a party..eat drink and mix and mingle with friends! the bocce ball course my husband built in the backyard was ready for the manly men to play in..and of course..i decided to remodel the dining room the night before. (this includes re-doing the floors…putting up wall to wall bookcases..loading them up with all of our pottery barn dishes that have been packed away since our wedding. oh and new curtains.) but the fact is..it was all done in the nick of time..even though i was frosting cupcakes
as guests arrived. i work well under pressure.

it was a fun party! we did a puppy theme because at the time that was sophia’s favorite word. every time she saw a dog.. or something that looked slightly like a dog.. she would squeeze her thighs around my waist as i held her and squeel with joy. “doggie doggie”

So of course…i went overboard (which i am completely content with doing.)
But although there were a lot of little details..they weren’t expensive ones! most were dollar store, target items or things i already had!

we had doggie bone shaped sandwiches, puppy dog shaped sugar cookies (i used extra dough to make little ear flaps. ohh the cuteness.) i attempted to make and decorate a cake for the first time. it was nice and pink. we had dogs in a blanket served in shiny little (new) dog dishes. and for our chew toy snack we had pretzel rods. (i had a whole assortment of snacks for this but i toned down my crazy mom-ness on that area.) But i did give in and make tonsss of puppy chow and put them in doggie bags as our party favor.

Sophia was a sweetie the whole party..and it was so fun having everyone come! Our house was filled with babies! every level was covered..the floor…the sofa..haha. the toddlers were cruising around… it turned into a daycare. one mama told me i was braver then her for throwing this party. haha. i did a deep clean but i swear i’m still finding
bits of cupcake hidden around my house.

happy birthday baby girl. i know you’ll love me for this one.
this and giving birth to you. that should do it. :)

Update:
Sophia is almost 2 now!! i can’t even believe it.
come august i will be giving birth to baby #2 and throwing a party for
sophia at the end of the month.
i probably should do some planning ahead..
i’m picturing i’ll have my hands full. :)

I would love to see any parties that you have put together for your children!! Link up!

How fun! You are the best party thrower of all time!
And by the way, we are twins. This is the second time I’ve seen that we have the same dress!! If we were real life friends we’d probably always show up wearing the same thing! :)

Your house belongs in a magazine. It’s gorgeous!!! Love what you did with the theme, so creative.

I went the lazy route and did just family for Olivia’s 1st birthday and for Sophia’s 3rd we went to Chuck E Cheese. I’m so ashamed, lol!

Happy 1st Birthday to your Sophia. What a sweet baby and her little curls are too precious for words.

I love a puppy theme! I can’t wait for carsons party!!! I totally know what it is like to expect a baby and have a bday party to throw. My due date was 5 days away from Darby’s 2nd bday. i had darby’s bday party like 3 weeks early just incase we had any surprises ; ). I do have a post for their parties but maybe I can right one. For darby’s second party I had a lady bug theme and I ordered live lady bugs and sent them home in jars as the favor! It was my favorite part!
