When Asher turned 9, he couldn’t make up his mind which sport he wanted for his birthday theme…so we went with ALL of them! He loves basketball, soccer, baseball and football – to name a few -so we went with a touch of each for this party and it was a HIT! His happy face said it all…he felt the love and his buddies had a blast too! In today’s post I’ll be sharing all of the amazon party finds and the sport themed touches that made it so fun.
You can check out the video I shared over on Instagram here – Asher’s Sport Themed 9th Birthday Party.
At the kitchen island, we had some snacks and drinks set up. I found a bunch of cute ball themed balloons and hung them from the ceiling. I also found some sport themed containers, plates and napkins! We served up some of his favorite things to eat and drink.
The Gatorade cooler was the perfect drink dispenser for this theme. And we actually have used it so much since then too!
Of course we had to have “super bowl rings” aka ring pops. I used the labels from the snack container pack (they are made for you to be able to attach to the cups themselves.)
We had our little white kart (before we branded it!) set up in the dining room with popcorn and candy toppings! My kids are obsessed with popcorn and all of the party guests had fun having popcorn and picking what candy toppings to put on top- a yummy salty and sweet treat!
Ok Dessert table time! I knew I wanted to have the backdrop be sport fields and I went to Amazon to see what I could find! I purchased this metal arch stand set with the plan to use it for multiple parties (which I have!) and then these football themed background covers were PERFECT! (The smaller arch was set up elsewhere in the house and was a football design.) This seriously has been one of my best party purchases – the arches break down and build back together so easily. We store them in our downstairs closet. You can find so many cover sets on Amazon for different themes!
I made a couple balloon garlands and placed them around the sides of the arches. Then I blew up some more balloons and used balloon glue dots to stack them up and cascade down. I love how it turned out!
I used the sport themed snack cups on this table as well and we filled them with veggie straws. Target bargain bins had these fun soccer ball bowls and we filled them with chips! My kids love sugar cookies and we put ball cupcake toppers on them. They also love rice krispie treats and we put the sport cards, that I made of Asher, in those.
To make the DIY sport cards…I just snapped some photos of Asher outside…then used Canva.com to erase the background and used some templates on there – tweaking them a little – to make his own cards! He was obsessed with this party detail and still has some on his desk. :)
You can easily do this for your own kiddo with whatever sport or team he loves! We made his number 09..because…..he was turning 9. And I let him pick his favorite outfits and jerseys and we just pulled it together one afternoon. Super easy and fun! The kids were able to pick out a sport card which they thought was so cool – and then again – we had them on the treat table as toppers!
We all wore jerseys for the party – and some of his friends also came repping their favorite team! :)
For the favors, I found these sport themed goodie bags and they were the perfect size! Not too big where you have to load it with a ton of stuff and spend a fortune…but also big enough where you can fit chips and a Gatorade and more. The kids were all excited to choose what sport bag they preferred – they loved it. I shared a video over on Instagram of these favor bags too!
Our go-to cake, that everyone always raves over, is the Walmart Hershey brand cake!! It feeds a crowd….and if you love chocolate you will love this cake. We topped the cake with some minifigures of two basketball players…and a 9 candle and boom..Asher was thrilled. haha.
It was so much fun celebrating our Asher! The highlight of the party was when we had our very own celebrity stop by – Asher’s teacher!! He was SO happy she came and all of his classmates, that were at the party, also loved this fun surprise! :)
Happy 9th Birthday to our sweet boy…I’m so delayed in posting this party- you are going to be 10 this fall and now THAT feels crazy! Stop growing up! ;)
Thanks for stopping by and checking out all of the party details! If you’re planning your own sport themed party, I hope this post was helpful!
