Window Covering Safety with Kids

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Window Covering Safety Council. All opinions are 100% mine.

Spring is here! If you’re like me, you might get the urge to do some spring cleaning and organize all the things! I want to encourage you, as you make some updates to your home, springtime is also a great season for making necessary safety updates! Making the switch to cordless is easier than ever and a great safety measure when you have kids in the house! I put NOTHING past my kids and what they can get into…so this was an important thing for me to consider as we moved in. Getting blinds without the dangling cords was on the top of our list! This post isn’t about the blinds we chose…but to raise awareness about this topic. It’s so important.

I remember, as a new mom, hearing all the safety measures I should take. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming! We had old blinds in one of our past homes, with cord strings, and it made me so nervous! I got rid of them as soon as we could. My kiddos are all over the place, and it gives me such peace of mind knowing we don’t have the potential strangling hazard of blinds, with the string cords, in our home! When shopping for blinds – it’s easier than ever to find a kid safe option! A recent US Safety Standard requires that all stock products be cordless, or have inaccessible cords. You can also look for products marked with the Best for Kids certification Label. Those products have gone through third party testing and are designed for use in homes with young kids.

Do you need to replace old blinds or install new ones? Going cordless is best! You can learn more about window covering safety by visiting @windowcordsafety on Instagram or Window Coverings on Facebook. From one mom to another – wishing you a wonderful Spring filled with fun with your littles.

I absolutely agree on going cordless when little ones are involved, otherwise it won’t be long until you have to take the pull mechanism apart while trying to fix it ;)
