A Guest Bedroom Makeover on a budget!

June 3, 2010

Myhomeideas.com shared some great tips on transforming a guest bedroom on a budget!! if you are lucky enough to have a spare bedroom…stop it from being the catch all space and really utilize the space! Follow these tips to turn your storage space into a welcoming lovely guest bedroom. your next visitors will be expecting chocolates on their pillows with how fabulous your room is!!

here’s the before and after just so you feel inspired and encouraged!!!

Make a statement. make a wall a focal point! a room seems so much more pulled together and “on purpose” when you do a grouping like this.

Makeover time! turn a dated item into a fabulous feature and focal point in the room!!
i have a mirror just like that that i picked up at a garage sale..can’t wait to transform it and put it in just the right spot.

a little paint and wallpaper turned this outdated piece into a glamourous statement making piece!!

window treatments. the trend right now is to hang them above the window molding. they found these curtains for a good price but they were to short so they made them custom by adding some complimentary fabric to the bottom of the panels. love it.

Table matters. they gave two plain black tv trays a little glamour by topping them with custom cut mirrors.

Swap it out. Lots of big chain stores offer mix and match lamp styles but if you find something that needs a little change…switch it up and you’ll be amazed at the difference. this lamp came with black shades but these lighter ones fit perfectly with the room.

Seek the Source. Look in second hand shops for pieces that are similar to those found in stores like pottery barn..etc. Designers often look to retro and classic styles for inspiration. A little loving and your piece will look straight out of a catalog!

i don’t know about you but i’m feeling inspired and encouraged and ready to transform any room with these budget friendly tips!! they make it sound so easy to create such a glamorous room myself!! check out their post for all the awesome details. they even link up where they bought some of the items. very handy.

This is the color our master bedroom is painted! We have chunky mission style furniture so we haven’t moved it to paint. These suggestions definitely inspire me to spruce up our space – mirror topped side tables, new lamps, curtains and beddings. I can’t wait!

I just love the mirror and dresser…i have a guest room that has become the catch all. The walls haven’t been painted yet, still splattered with sample colors, and there isn’t even a bed yet! horrible, i know. This post has given me a lot of great ideas!
