SLOW DOWN Craft-Time

October 10, 2013

Life can easily become stuck in super speed.
I especially have felt that since Sophia started school.
Yesterday when she came home…I decided it was SLOW DOWN TIME.
I grabbed some craft supplies I had nearby… and said it’s pumpkin craft time!
My girls love a project..craft….tell them it’s homework
and they are pumped.
(taking advantage of their excitement on that while I have it ;)
I get asked a lot via instagram where our table is from–IKEA.. go figure. haha.
I really love it, but with my little ones I wanted to make sure it
stayed nice and white for as long as possible. So I went on the hunt to find a pretty and sturdy covering for it. I picked out this Laminated table cloth
from Compelled to Craft and I have to say it’s the most genius idea ever. It’s custom fit to
our IKEA table..so when you stick it on, the elastic edges make it cover the table and
stay in place! Something about a laminated tablecloth makes me
want to pull out the glue sticks! lol. Time to get crafty…. and who knows…
maybe we’ll go crazy and do play dough tomorrow. Feeling wild and free. ;)
I love how it didn’t take much to make my girls happy…
a simple craft. Seriously I wasn’t going all martha stewart on them…
but they LOVED it.. and it kept them like busy little bees long enough
for me to change a diaper, warm up leftovers and join in the craft fun!
Sometimes we need to set aside time to just BE with our kids.
I had to get dinner ready and take care of micah during this time,
but I could tell this little creative spark in them was lit again…
and it made me want to try and do more “slow down-craft times” with them
when sophia gets home from school. I loved how they made their pumpkins and
then named them all.. the tiny ones were of course Micah..I think I was the one
with the crazy hair and a mustache.  awesome.
I snapped these photos then got in on the pumpkin making action.
don’t judge my pumpkin cut out shapes..haha.. we were just going with it! ;)
Do you feel like me, and want to SLOW DOWN sometimes?
I want to soak up these kids of mine..set aside time to just BE with them.
I think we are going to make apples today after school. LOL.
don’t have to get crazy crafty mamas, we can’t forget that kids enjoy simple…
and if they don’t..we need to foster that in them!
happy SLOW-DOWN-Craft-Time ladies!

And I would just like to say that I think the world needs
more pumpkins with mustaches.
nice touch girls.
My girl Kara-Kae is on the let’s have fun plan too. Join us!

    So creative.

Boys are the best, but now I like girls more because you can find plenty of great clothes for them and even polish their nails. That’s fun! :-D

How fun! I definitely need to be more intentional about “slowing down” with the boys. It’s so easy to be “go-go-go” all the time and not stop for the little things like this. Great idea, mama!
