100th Day of School Shirt DIY

February 12, 2021

Today is the 100th day of School for my kiddos and Asher’s class had a fun shirt project to do! He was SO HAPPY with his shirt and was cheering, “ahhh I can’t wait to wear pom poms on my chestttttt!!” haha. We had one happy 5 year old as he headed off to school his morning and I thought I would give you guys the details of this project in case you have your 100th day coming up!

SUPPLIES:
Shirt. (I used one we already had.)
Pom Poms (Target has bags of “50” but count because one bag had 51. lol.)
Hot Glue Gun + hot glue
Yarn
Iron on Transfer Paper
Printer

STEPS:
We were losing daylight so I quickly snapped a photo of Asher with my phone!
I air dropped it to the computer and used Photoshop to crop him out.
I placed him at the bottom of the page and typed “Happy 100 days of learning!”
Then, I reversed the file so that when I print and iron it on…it shows up in the right direction!
(If you don’t have photoshop, you could also just print the photo itself and then cut it out. Just try to keep your background white and empty to make it easier. You can also use canva.com to create the text file.)

Once I had my iron ons cut out I wanted to mock up the shirt to get spacing right. I put the pom poms in the general area…and then cut some yarn to make my balloon string!

Once Asher and the words were on Ironed on, I hot glued the yarn and the pom poms.

SO EASY! Hope this inspires some fun for you.
Last night, randomly at bedtime, Asher goes, “Mom, I just love that shirt you made me.” Cue all the mama warm and fuzzy feelings. It’s the best when you can help them feel so loved and special. He was so excited to wear it to school.
Micah told him he looked like he had a pom pom beard…which made it even more amazing to Asher. haha. Life is good.
Happy 100th Day!

A cool idea for a kid’s shirt! I will make the same for my kid’s birthday – these pompoms look like balloons.
