Our Trip To: Las Vegas

March 13, 2023

I recently spent a few days with Ben in Las Vegas! We had never been and it was a much needed recharge after the month weā€™ve had. Thereā€™s a lot to do there, even if youā€™re like us, and donā€™t gamble. (Would rather spend money on food haha.)Ā Hereā€™s our favorite things from our trip:

SHOWS:
We got tickets for the Blue Man Group our first day there. Classic Vegas!! Funny and enjoyable.

Obsessed with the Copperfield show at the MGM. If you want a Magic show–this is it! All the childhood nostalgia for Ben. Iā€™m still trying to figure out his tricks it was incredible. I have questions. Haha.

If you want to see a variety show you HAVE to check out the Americaā€™s Got Talent Superstars show!! SO FUN and a great mix of entertainment.
This was the last show we booked while on our trip – and I would say my FAVORITE!

WALKING THE STRIP:
I enjoyed it moreeee in the day. Thatā€™s just our vibe? If you get me? Haha.

BUT going to the Bellagio at night was fun for the fountain show! They had Elvis as the soundtrack for the show…felt very Vegas! ;)
Here’s the Fountain Show Schedule:
Monday-Friday ā€“ every half hour from 3pm until 7pm; every 15 minutes from 7pm until 11:55pm.
Saturday, Sunday & Holidays ā€“ every 30 minutes from 12pm until 7pm, every 15 minutes from 7pm until 11:55pm.

Favorite ā€œmallā€ was The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace! The twinkly night sky ceiling was gorgeous. We strolled around, taking our time. Benefit of being kidless on this trip haha.
Walking through all the hotels there’s lots of shopping. There is also a regular type mall down the way that we stopped at for the LEGO store. (the best Souvenir to bring home for the boys.)

I was really excited about checking out the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Make sure you go in the day- so pretty!
I was told they change this out seasonally. It was on my list of places to see!
Ā

FOOD:

When we travel Iā€™m always excited about the FOOD! Las Vegas has a bunch of great places to try. We stumbled upon the Yard House – not literally haha-Ā  and it ended up being a great find! Iā€™m still dreaming of the queso we had there! With soft tortillas + chips. I need it in my life again. Also their calamari was delish.
At @getcrackshacked you need to try the Baja Chop salad (add fried chicken) and the Mexican Poutine Shack Fries. Soooo good.
For Mexican food, we tried @cabowabolv and it has a fun vibe and was delicious.
PRICEY but delicious- Tom Colicchioā€™s craft steakhouse at the MGM was incredibleeeeee. Best steak, bread, salad, Brussels sprouts, chocolate cake. Insanely pricey. (We did NOT get the $350 steak haha) But all incredible.
We also visited @gordonramsayburger in @phvegas and @guyfieriā€™s Vegas kitchen in the @thelinq – both yummy but I wasn’t blown away. MAYBE it was what we ordered. If you love those chef’s it’s still worth trying.

WHERE TO STAY:
DO NOT recommend staying at the MGM Grand. I felt like it was falling a part. we had a LOT of issues with our room(s).
Iā€™ll leave it at that… Ā But from what I read, staying on the strip makes a big difference. And I would definitely go for a themed hotel. We walked them all and theyā€™re fun!
MGM doesn’t really have a theme going. I did like how tall the ceilings were at our hotel….it has fun shops and places to check out in the main area too. Maybe just walk through it – don’t sleep there. haha.

GETTING AROUND TOWN:
We bought the 2 day pass for the Monorail. (It started at our hotel.) We used it and got our money’s worth… but we also did Uber plenty of the time.
One thing to mention, is that the buildings on the strip are actually further than you think…so just keep that in mind when making your plan! I tried to group together certain things we wanted to check out.

If you DO gamble…I would say the Venetian was the prettiest, brightest venue for that- I know thatā€™s not the usual criteria for gambling set ups haha but I mean it felt like a movie set!
If I could summarize Vegas, it feels like a cruise ship– on land. Haha. Lots of fun shows, dining options, art installments to check out and activities to do.
I’m glad we got to mark off Las Vegas on places we’ve traveled!
