Our Spooky Play Kitchen!

September 24, 2019

While the kiddos were at school I added a little spooky to their playroom!
Their play kitchen turned into the Little Monsters Cafe with a
few Halloween themed items I had picked up over the week!
Come on in for a bite! ;)

We use this kitchen space every day. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
I think that it gets regular use because it’s large enough for all the kids to get in there and play together…. but there’s also fun food and store items that really spark their imagination!
I wanted them to have some Halloween fun in their play kitchen and it didn’t take much to pull it together.
A few touches and it was giving us all the Fall/Halloween feels and became the perfect spot to whip up some monster food!

You can check out our play kitchen tutorial here.

And this is what this space looks like normally!

Here’s the things I picked up – you could use some or all of this to make your own play kitchen a little spooky!
Halloween Supplies
Cobwebs – Hobby Lobby
Spiders – Hobby Lobby
Eat Drink and Be Scary Sign – Target Bargain Bins
Black Cat Pillow – Walmart
Mini black and white pumpkins – Target
Fall Floral – Hobby Lobby
Black Cauldron – Hobby Lobby
Bat Towel – Joanns
mini orange pumpkins – Hobby Lobby
Fabric Scarp Garland – Fabric and black twine from Hobby Lobby

One day while Hunter napped and the bid kids were off at school (Asher at preschool) I doodled a little Monster Cafe signage and added some bats. We keep the stars up most of the time!
I also cut and tied up some fabric I got from Hobby Lobby to some black twine and added a little garland.
I switched out their summer flowers for some fall themed ones. Aren’t they cute?? Hobby Lobby had their fall floral on sale and one was even damaged so they knocked it a little lower for me too. Mixed in with some greenery and orange blooms I had to finish it off.
The tins they are in are from Hobby Lobby and I get asked about them all the time – look in the floral area and grab them when on sale!

I had been wanting to get a jute rug for a while and saw this one at Hobby Lobby half off! Grabbed it!
The kids helped me come up with some yummy monster treats for the specials.
I had to tame some of their gross suggestions haha this pregnant mama can’t handle it.
They were so cute getting in there and playing monster cafe – they added some spiders to most of the meals (as you do) and they were DE-LISH.
The cash register is our new current fave – it’s the Fisher Price Cash Register Set. Most of our play food is felt food I made, Melissa and Doug or Learning Resources!! We get a new set  of play food for each kid every Christmas and have ended up with a fun haul they play with every day!
You can check out all of the play food sources here on Amazon!
The metal sign here is an oldie but goodie from Target Bargain Bins.

We put out some of our Halloween/Fall books on the shelves too – the forward facing ones!
I want to style some cute shelves for the kiddos in the boys’ room – another project for another day!
Also – We keep just play food and books in the play room. It for sure helps with clean up.
You can see all of our favorite books here!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out our spooky play kitchen!
It’s so fun getting into the season with the kids!
We have our pumpkin candle burning and it’s starting to feel like fall here in the Carolinas!
We even got teased with a little cool weather. ;)
Happy Fall guys! I’m off to go be served some delicious Dragon eggs and toast. YUM.
