Hospital Bag for Baby #6!

February 27, 2020

I’ve packed a few Hospital bags over the years
and I’ve figured out what I personally like to have with me when it’s baby time!
Here’s the run down on what’s in MY hospital bag!

FOR ME:
I pack a comfy robe and set of pajamas.
A Nursing tank.
My favorite Milk Snob Nursing Cover
(I typically don’t use this in the hospital unless we have a room full of people.)
Pair of Socks
Couple pairs of granny panties as my kids call them haha. (Large and comfy undies!!!)
An outfit to “leave the hospital” in. Usually a flowy tunic top and black leggings.
Toiletries Bag and Mirror.

Toiletries Bag:
This is mostly stuff for me but I also have packed an extra of Ben’s hair product, comb and deodorant.
That way he doesn’t even have to think about that stuff when he’s whisking me off to the hospital.
I packed travel toothbrushes and tooth paste for us.
For me I have my nursing pads– I always use the Lansinoh brand.
Mini dry shampoo and hair spray. Deodorant, Neutrogena face cleaning wipes, Neutrogena toner and Cetaphil face lotion.
I also packed some large pads but typically use the hospital given ones till we head home.
I usually have my basic makeup in my purse which I already will have with me.

FOR BABY:
We don’t know what we are having. (we’ve done a surprise 2 times and found out 3 times.)
So I pack a few favorite outfits for if it’s a boy..or if it’s a girl!
I don’t always use them but I like having options for those first hours with baby and taking photos. The cute tiny clothes is just part of the fun so I can’t do less than 3 haha.
The solid pink and grey are from Old Navy and the others are all Target.
I pack little hand mitts for both boy or girl.
I grab a few of my favorite swaddle blankets.
Diapers and Wipes. (This one…I don’t always use because the hospital does give you what you need, but I just like to be prepared!)

FOR SIBLINGS:

It’s always pure magic when the kids come to meet their new baby!!
We have always had a little something to gift the big kids “from the baby” and this year the theme is puppies!
I ordered all of these off amazon one night when snuggling hunter to bed and having contractions haha.
We love this brand. I had them hid up and away in my closet in a box and I told Ben it looked like we had a litter of puppies to be adopted haha.
They aren’t too big- just the right size to snuggle up with while Mom and Dad are still at the Hospital. I put them in a bag and into my Hospital bag!
We love the Douglas brand of stuffed animals. Here’s links to the ones we got the kids!
Douglas Stevie Bernese Mountain Dog
Douglas Cuddle Toys Tucker Chocolate Lab
Douglas Chap Golden Retriever
Douglas Phoebe Pomsky Plush
Douglas Louie Corgi Dog

FOR NURSES:
I always pack up treat bags to give my nurses! Just a little something to be able to offer them to thank them for all they do.
We usually have them out after I deliver and Ben or I tell them to grab one and tell the others they are welcome to come get some candy too!
I blogged more about these Labor and Delivery nurse gifts earlier this month.

I hope this post is helpful to you if you are packing your own hospital bag!
Everyone is going to have different must haves but these are the things that I like to have with me when it’s baby time.
Wishing you all the best!!!

You make it seem so simple! I’m due with baby number two on 4/2 (I think we are very close in due dates) and trying to have my bag packed early just in case. On the hunt now for a flowy top to wear home, I love that idea. I do love being pregnant but can’t wait to fit into normal clothes again! Also love your idea of bringing gifts for the nurses (I would probably eat half of the candy myself before giving it out, haha!)
