Office Room Tour

October 7, 2021

When we first moved into the house the plan was to make this space a playroom. But as we lived in the space we realized, with our kids’ ages and myself working from home, we needed a different type of space! We needed a place where I could work/get creative…and a space where the big kids could draw/build with legos. It’s like a “creative quiet time playroom” if that’s a thing. haha. Today I’m sharing how we set up our Office/Create Room and linking what I can for you guys! It’s been such a great area for the family and sparking a ton of creative projects. Let’s dive into the room!

One of my favorite parts of the room is the family photo we just hung up. It’s one of my favorite snaps from our Summer and I love being able to see my people on the wall!
We used CanvasPop for this one and they make it SO easy to get photos framed and up! We used them years ago for the large print in our family room too.
I got a discount code for you guys…use ATHOME50 to get HALF OFF your order at CanvasPop! You upload your favorite photos, choose from so many options to fit your style and size you want- and it ships straight to you printed, framed and ready to hang!

I also love that the glass on our frame is plastic…always nice with kiddos playing nearby! The discount code is valid throughout the year (2021) So get some frames of your favorite people marked off your list. The photo is just from my phone but the print quality is great!
You can choose all the details like size, frame colors and style and mattes. But you guys know I love white frames so I go with that. ;) I picked out exactly what I wanted on the website and it arrived at my door step printed and framed ready for my to hang up and enjoy!

I have been loving the long desks we built. We really needed to maximize the space we had and make it super functional for everyone. We started with one and ended up realizing we wanted two! We got the countertop from IKEA and the metal legs from Lowe’s. SUCH an easy and affordable DIY that really makes the space work for us. Lowe’s also had countertops similar so you can get the same look even if you don’t have an IKEA near you. We ended up getting 4 “two packs” and 2 single leg packs. (to brace the middle.)

The 7×10 rug is from Target and I love how it helps muffle the noise in the space…I’ll take all the help in that department I can get haha. Loud kiddos over here!
It also is very deceivingly white…It never looks dirty because of the shag of it.
The curtains are from IKEA.

The three kid chairs are from IKEA. They are great and we actually have the same ones at our kitchen table too!
The fuzzy chair for me is from Home Goods.

After we built the tables the next project was the shelves! I grabbed the brackets from IKEA (but you can get those at any home improvement store.) then I got some plain wood from Lowe’s and painted them white. I knew I wanted to go long with the shelves because I have a BIG collection of globes and thought this was the perfect space for it! On the other shelf I got some Pillowfort bins from Target. These hold our LEGO’s and some craft supplies we use regularly (glue sticks, stapler, glue etc.) I am still figuring out the best items to have in these but this is where we are at now. I also added some felt pads to the bottoms (from Target) so that they don’t scratch the shelves.

The hardest part for me was trying to figure out what to put over the computer side of the table. I was first thinking a big map but I honestly didn’t feel like that was the look I wanted. I ended up grabbing 3 bulletin boards from Hobby Lobby and they are PERFECT! I love that they are square…and the grouping of 3 makes it feel nice and solid on the wall. It’s exactly what this room needs with a spot for the kids to hang up their works of art. They like to watch drawing tutorials on my computer or their tablets and then post them on the boards.

I love Holidays and like to always think ahead to how we can make a space festive and use it that time of year. I can’t wait to fill up the boards with some fun Holiday themed crafts and the shelves are going to be a great spot to put a fun collection of Christmas decor! (I’m thinking a gingerbread house theme. ;)

I knew that I was going to need some storage systems on the desks themselves. I pulled out our metal crayon caddy (from Walmart many summers ago.) And then found a cute double paper tray and 3 cup holder thing from Hobby Lobby. haha. Sorry don’t know the official name but it was perfect to hold our pens, washable markers and pencils! I also grabbed 2 white wood paper trays from Target that hold the “doodles”. There are always papers across the table and instead of picking through them I’ll just stash them there and then have the kids go through them another time. (Makes for an easier cleanup day to day.) The cheetah lamp is from Target and I love the whimsical feel it brings to the room! It might end up in the boys’ room but for now it works great in here.

Thanks for stopping by! We are over on insta every day too – @athomewithnatalie. Come say hey!
