Sausage Gravy + Biscuits with Hard Boiled Eggs

February 9, 2021

Out of all the recipes I’ve shared with you guys, this is the most special! (and delicious!)
When I first got married, I called up my Grandmommy to get her Sausage Gravy and Biscuits recipe…it’s been a family favorite since I was a child. I’ve shared this one in the past, but I wanted to give it an update with better photos so you can really see how YUMMY it is!! I do canned biscuits instead of homemade ones to make it even easier to whip together for dinner. You can easily whip up your favorite biscuit recipe but I’m all about shortcuts in this season of my motherhood. ;) My family loves this comfort food recipe…the salty and creamy gravy with the sausage eggs and biscuits is just sooo dang good!

INGREDIENTS:

1 Pack of Jimmy Dean Sausage. (Regular)
4 TB Flour
Eggs (I usually make around 8.)
3 cups Milk
Can of Biscuits (We use 2 for our family-with leftovers.)
Salt + Pepper

We make the flaky style biscuits (like below) or the southern homestyle ones.

STEPS:
1. Set some eggs to boil. However many you want!
2. Brown up your sausage.
3. Once the Sausage is browned up add 4 TB flour
(or enough to do a light coating on the sausage! You can always add a little more to stretch it if making for a bigger crowd.)
4. Stir it around and cook for a couple minutes.

5. Pour in 3 cups milk to cover the sausage. Stir often.
6. Put the biscuits in the oven while the sausage gravy thickens.
(I prefer to bake my biscuits on parchment paper. No worry of sticking!)

7. Cool down your hard boiled eggs in ice water.

8. Salt and Pepper your gravy to taste.
(Depending on the sausage you choose, it can already be really salty..so make sure to taste before adding more salt!)
9. Peel and slice up your hard boiled eggs. I like to salt them on the main plate before serving them up.
(I’ve found when peeling it helps to hit the egg on the counter and roll it..breaking it up…and then peel it under running water.)

If the gravy gets too thick..just add in a splash more of milk and stir!

YOU ARE GONNA LOVE THIS RECIPE!

10. We like to cube up our biscuits on the plate, place the sliced hard boiled eggs, and then pour the gravy on top.
It makes it easy for the kids to eat….but I really like being able to get a bite of everything at once. It’s so good all together!

If you are looking for a yummy comfort food dish to serve your family…this is THE ULTIMATE RECIPE! We make this whenever we have company staying with us and it always gets rave reviews. There’s never a drop left to eat!

This is a family recipe my Grandmother passed down to us…and I’m passing down to my kids. I think it would be a perfect recipe to add to your own family favorites to make. Enjoy!

I use this same recipe but I add a chicken bouillon cube. Try it!
