The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Giving – Ways to Give Back

December 17, 2018

Thank you to Zonderkidz for sponsoring todayā€™s post and message!
Thereā€™s something about the Christmas season that makes me feel so nostalgic!
We recently added the book ā€˜The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Givingā€™ to our
home library and when I saw it
I KNEW I wanted to have it to read to my own children.
This series was such a part of my childhood! Just looking at the characters takes me back.
Was this a book you read as a kid too??

The topic of this book couldnā€™t be more fitting this time of year.
As parents, we are trying to help our kids realize that itā€™s better to give than to receive.
This year we are going to spend time as a family ā€˜giving backā€™ and
helping our kids experience first hand that joy you feel when you give!

We are busy rounding up toys and books to give to other children who
are less fortunate than us. Our hope is that when those children unwrap the presents they feel loved!!

Looking to donate gifts this holiday season?
Hereā€™s some organizations you could connect with in your area!
Toys for Tots
Salvation Army at Walmart
One Simple Wish (Connects you with children in the foster care system)
Operation Christmas Child
Angel Tree (Helps children who have a parent in prison)
Your church or school might even be doing a toy drive!
Homeless Shelter

Letā€™s show our children, by example, what is important this time of year!
Their own toys will be outgrown and set asideā€¦ but your children will always be able to hold
onto the experiences you give them of giving back to others. I hope my kids will remember
those moments and how it made them feel. My goal is to raise kind, outstanding human
beings, and having them help give to others is a way to foster that in their hearts!

This conversation all sparked from this simple sweet book.
ALL the nostalgia with this one— which is what I want at Christmas! Haha.
In The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Givingā€¦.
Brother and Sister Bear canā€™t wait for Christmas and all the presents theyā€™ll open.
But during the Christmas Eve pageant, something special happens!
The Bear cubs learn a very valuable lesson about the joy of giving to others.

ā€˜The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Givingā€™ is available in stores now
and recommended for children ages 3-8.
I hope you grab the book and enjoy some reading time with your little onesā€¦
and then get inspired to help other children feel loved this Christmas!
